Who, Me???

Where have I been the past 2 months you might ask? Or you don’t because you don’t give a shit. But eitherway I am going to tell some stories.
To be honest I don’t remember that many stories. No not because there are no stories to be told or I have been drunk the whole time, no it’s because I have a poor memory.
The
I met some guys in a club, with one of whom I had dinner later that week and accidentally went home with, just to realise that I do not like him. AT ALL. I guess we all have to learn this the hard way. After things got heated and he didn’t understand my hesitation, I left. I walked 8 miles home in the middle of the night. Because he was an asshole. Everytime I unintendedly remember these events I feel sick.  But it was a lesson…being an adult hit me straight in the face.
But none the less it has been a good summer. I’ve found a job, earned some money, met up with friends and nervously awaited the beginning of my first semester at University.

I’m not going to write anymore today, as my mood seems to be as dark as the sky outside my window. Maybe I’ll write something tomorrow, maybe I won’t. We’ll see.

Cheers.

Once upon a summers day

Last week my family and I went on a very much deserved vacation to the countryside. I love living in a big city, but I am a country girl at heart. There is something about the serenity there that makes me very happy and never fails to calm me down. The constant buzzing of those little insects and the bees..
Even though I can relax on vacation, I absolutely hate doing nothing. I can’t sit still. And this year we went biking (because I dragged my family with me on nearly every occasion) and kayaking (is this the right term? I’m not sure).

On the first day I explored the bike lanes and an admirable little town.

Those lovely cobbled street were a pain for riding a bike on, but they surely looked very pretty.

IMGP0171
We ate in a petite bistro opposite this store which sold antique furniture. The old man on the chair actually seemed to sit out there the whole time.

And just around the corner we found this gemstone of shabby-chic. The store inside this house was made with so much love and effort. It looked nearly like it came straight out of pinterest, but with more heart.

The good, the better & the 18th birthday

At the beginning of the month I finally turned 18. I had a lovely weekend filled with little celebrations. On Friday my friends and I had a little get together. We had an Alice in Wonderland inspired tea party and it was fantastic. Sadly when I took pictures of my marvellously decorated table I completely forgot to put a memory card into my SLR…pfffff On Saturday my family and relatives came over and celebrated with me
Here are a few pictures I took with my new camera.

Balloons everywhere in the garden and the house.

IMGP0022  IMGP0019
I’ve got some bottles of bubbly, some Soap & Glory goodies, a very lovely clothbound edition of ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
IMGP0068
And I  got the prettiest flowers ever. A bunch of pink and white peonies. . .

Another humongous bouquet.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR LIKE…EVER

img001

Hi there,
here I am again.

Yesterday was finally the day that we received our A-Level report cards. That means I’ll never have to go to my old school again. Yay.
But before our official graduation ceremony yesterday we had an unofficial last day at school (which was a few weeks ago on the third of June).

Having a last day is kind of a tradition at our school. The 12th graders plan a day full of chaos and confusion for the teachers and the younger students. We got up at 4 a.m. filled 1000 balloons, taped chairs and desks in the classrooms together to keep them in huge piles on the floor, drew stuff on every blackboard and hung up posters of Justin Bieber, One Direction, The Wanted… in every toilet in the whole school. When the first students arrived and every piece of artwork in the building was covered in Disney posters we were prepared.
The students were greeted with a warm welcome of SuperSoakers and finger paint. After the lessons started and the teachers desperatly tried to untie the chairs and the desks, we went into every classroom and generally annoyed as many teachers and disrupted as many classes as possible.

As school normally is extremely strict and organized this is the only day of the year that we are allowed to make a little bit of a mess.

But despite all of the mess we made and the fun we had this day felt incredibly unreal for me. I’ve been going to this school for the past 5, 6.. no 7 years and even though I didn’t like school that much I am sure going to miss learning something new and the routine of a normal school day. Nevertheless I am going to start university in September and there’ll surely be a new routine quite fast.

See you later (a.k.a. tomorrow),

xx

Lina

P.S.: I’m sorry that I have been away from blogging for so long, but June was a friggin’ busy month. There were thousands of 18th birthdays of friends. I had to work. And most of all I had to make/layout/design the whole f****** yearbook this time. Alone. And it nearly drove me insane.

30 DAY SNAP #17

Today the weather was perfect. Again. So went outside and jumped into some Harry Potter nostalgia. I’ve probably read this book for more than 4 times and I still love it and it never gets boring.

CUT THE CRAP

Sometimes you have to make changes in order to feel good again. Because I think sometimes we, mostly young females, let ourselves get too influenced by what males or the media think is good for us, what we should look like, how we should be….

And I think that makes everyone somewhat pretentious. That’s why I decided to get rid off some of the stuff that makes me feel self-conscious or bad or whatever. You catch my drift?

Ok.

1. Last Wednesday I went to the hairdresser to get my hair cut. Not the normal get-rid-off-the-split-ends-cut, but I literally got half of my hair cut off. (My hair went down to the middle of my back now it barely touches my shoulders). People often think of long hair as very sexy or cute, I thought the same for quite a long time, but I got kind of bored and decided I needed a change, so off it was. And there is this boost of confidence that comes with having short hair (at least for me), I know that getting short hair can end horribly wrong, but it’s just hair. It’ll grow again and for the worst cases there’ll always be extensions.

2. In one of my cleaning antics I threw out all of my magazines. Not everyone, but issues like COSMOPOLITAN that always tells you what and how to be etc. and I think getting rid of direct body shaming influence works quite well for me. On one page they say that curves are the new trend and everything else is out. And on the next page they announce the same thing for skinny girls. But they always manage to make a lot of people feel bad about themselves. Why can’t we just accept that everybody looks different and that there’s nothing wrong about that?

IMGP4011

into the bin with you lot

IMGP4015

3. Tell people to shut the f*** up. If they don’t accept you for who you are, if they are mean to you or always try to change you are NOT your friends, no matter what tehy tell you. If they make you feel down, leave them.

4. Be yourself. You are amazing.

I seriously want to know what you do to make yourself feel good.

FALLING IN LOVE ON THE TRAIN – SATURDAY STORY-TIME

I think that there is one thing we have all done despite all our differences. We’ve fallen in love. But there is a very special way of it. It is called falling in love on the train, the tube, the bus, the whatever wherever.

You are just sitting there (if you are lucky enough to have a seat) casually minding your own business staring holes into the air, reading 50 Shades of Grey, listening to your iPod or pretending to be texting. One moment later you some why look up to notice the most astonishingly beautiful person you have ever seen standing just a few feet away from you. And before you can think: ‘Oh hell, you are incredible’ you will be falling head-over-heels for this unknown stranger. If he is smiling at you this is a plus but not  a necessity. And it will make the blood rush into your cheeks and it will make you look like a complete and utter weirdo. But in that moment it doesn’t matter. This possible Calvin-Klein underwear model is so stunningly beautiful that you contemplate getting off at their stop to find out where he’s headed, but the thought to have a little chat with him and to ask for his number never crosses your mind.

Yet for some reason your hormone-filled brain starts to plan a future with this highly attractive stranger, imagining how your first date would be. But just a few seconds later your thoughts are interrupted by the oh-so familiar rustling of a jacket and a backpack being lifted up from the ground. You look up, the tube doors open and your possible one true love leaves the train. Without you even knowing his name and you’ll be sad for 15 seconds but then you’ll go back to your daily tube routine. Staring holes into the air, reading a book or pretending to text. your day will basically be like the previous ones.

But every once in a while you’ll remember this time you saw the most beautiful person on the tube and how they smiled at you and how you fell in love in mere seconds. And you’ll smile at this memory and how ridiculous it seems to fall in love with a stranger and yet you’ll be filled with a radiant happiness whenever you think of it.

30 DAY SNAP #3 THE ROSEGOLD STUDDED FLATS

I bought those lovely flats a few weeks ago at a local boutique an I love them so much. I am normally more of a Vans kinda person but those shoes are extremely comfortable. I have already worn them to a wedding and danced in them all night long.

Hope you're all well.

30DAY SNAP #1

Hello peeps,
I am sorry that there's been no Friday fun video yesterday, but due to the constant heavy rain in my area my internet connection is basically non-existing most of the day. I can still upload today's picture with my phone.

Because of the bad weather today, I decided to snuggle up in my maroon American Apparel jumper, some pj pants and the fuzziest socks ever to go on reading 'Lean In' by Sheryl Sandberg. I even. So far I really enjoy this book it is incredibly helpfull. Even my pink glasses are in today's snap.

I hope you had better weather.
What were you up to today?

OOTD? NO,JUST THE RAINY DAY SHOES GUIDE

Just two days left until June officially starts, but spring ahs yet to arrive. At the end of April I thought that I could have worn my sandals and shorts and summer dresses already, but the weather is saying no. It’s been raining here for the past 4 days (without any breaks). That’s why I decided to do a perfect-shoe-for-x-y-weather tag.
I don’t want to go out with beautiful shoes when it’s raining and have wet feet five minutes later, because my shoes are soaked.
Without further ado here they are, the perfect rainy weather shoes:
     IMGP4343IMGP4341
a pair of white Dr.Martens for going into the city or anywhere else without getting wet feet
a pair of Hunter wellies for walks through the field etc.
Both shoes are the perfect choice for rainy weather. I’ve worn my Docs every day in winter, even when there was a huge amount of snow.
You can style both boots with skinny jeans, jumpers, skirts and tights…. but you need. I repeat: you need a pair of cool cozy socks.
possibilites:
  IMGP4358
bottom left: TOPSHOP socks
the rest: Primark (all over-the-knee socks)

or in my opinion the best choice for wellies:

Goodbye,
hope you all have warm feet.
   IMGP4352
Oh and I am absolutely in love with the pattern and the colour of those boots.

EXHAUSTION, EDUCATION AND 7 WEEKS OF BAD LUCK (WEDNESDAY WISDOM’S ONE DAY LATE)

Oh this is seriously the worst heading I have ever come up with it. I deeply apologize for the lack of a post yesterday. The first week of my oh-so-well-plannes schedule and I already fail on the second day. tststs well done Lina

Back to the topic: Weeks and weeks of final exams are now over. I’m so glad that I won’t have to write a test in school ever again, but the tension of not knowing the exam results is driving me insane. Literally. But what feels extremely weird is that now, even after 12 years of school I’ll have to head over to Uni for the next five to six years. What I ask myself is what new stuff am I going to learn at Uni? How to completely loose your social life during exam period, how to down hell of a lot of shots in the shortest time possible or better how to pay back 50k + in student loans? And by the way I think that charging student thousands of dollars or euros or pounds as tuition fees is justified. Shouldn’t it be the government’s intention to offers the best education possible to everyone that is smart and not to everyone that can afford it?

Oh and now to my 7 weeks of bad luck

1. I sadly had to decline all of the five  UCAS university offers I received due to financial reasons (and also I don’t think starting your work-life with a debt of 50,000 quids is the right way)

2. Shortly after that we (me and many people from our year) had a post-maths-exam BBQ. One of the boys from my year had a few drinks too much and drunkely decided to have an adventure. one second later I see him riding my bike up the hill. While coming back down he slips and falls. Nice one boy. The problem was that I was the only sober one left and I had to take care of him. Turns out he broke his jaw and completely wrecked my beloved CUBE-bike. And now (3 weeks later) he is pretending he wasn’t even drunk (sure thing, he started drinking a good five hours prior and was going at an incredible pace) and he’s hoping insurance will pay for it. Of course they’ll pay for something you’ve done when you were drunk without the owners consent. (I hope you note my sarcasm here)
If it would have been me I would’ve been extremely ashamed and would have paid the money necessary for the bike repair immediately.
Some people just aren’t ashamed of anything.

3. One and a half week after the car incident I had motorbike accident. And all the awards for bad luck go to…… *drumroll please* Lina.
There was an oil trail on the street which I didn’t notice until I was kissing the concrete after I tried to brake. Now that motorbike is wrecked too.

Thanks Karma. You are a bitch. No not really karma, but I guess real life is one.

In conclusion: Real life’s a bitch. Sometimes.

30 DAY SNAP -JUNE 2013-

Sometimes live just happens so fast, that it would be nice to slow down sometimes and just take a look at all the cool things that happened.

That’s the reason why I am going to take a picture every day in June to keep some memories. Maybe we could do this together?
30day snap
May this summer be the best summer ever.

AM I LOST?

I always assumed that the day you grow up you suddendly know who you are and what you want to do. But that’s incredibly wrong. The future grows like olives on a tree. At the beginning of summer they are still tiny babies but the faster autumn approaches the bigger they get no matter if there is enough water or a thousand thunderstorms.

We can’t stop it.

It’s a continuous process.

Just like those olives our dreams grow bigger and stronger. And as soon as the season is over they are ready to be picked. But as humans we are curious we don’t know which olive exactly contains what we wish for. But we want the right one even if we don’t have the slightest clue what right means for us.
It seems to me that many people choose their olive with their eyes closed hoping that it’d be the right one. We don’t know what the perfect olive should be like yet we somewhy always think we are sure about the seemingly foul ones. How should we know what’s wrong if we don’t know what’s right?

We can’t.

Because there is no right or wrong. Do what feels right for you and what makes you happy. Just don’t loose yourself on the way. Yes, you change, you evolve that’s what life’s all about, but don’t forget who you are.

IS THIS GROWING-UP?

One day, no matter how hard you’re trying to avoid it, you’ll realize that you have grown up. That you are no longer the little child in kindergarden. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are 18 yet, but it means that your soul has evolved, you've grown as an individual. And it most importantly means that you have to stand on your own feet from now on.

I think that is the biggest and also the most frightening part. You suddendly realize that it’s all your choice. Whether you go to Uni or you do a gap year or you try to find work.. it all depends on you. The road that you take, the decisions and the mistakes that you make and will make.

And this scares the crap out of me.
Not having a pre-made plan, having to figure everything out on your own, not being sure who you really are and what you really want, trying to go out there and do your thing without leaving anything or anyone important behind.

xx
